Jojo is so underated, the guy is a monster. When i spoke to him at the 'Montreal Drumfest' i asked him who his inspirational drummers were and without hesitation he said 'Vinnie' ! [img]wink.gif[/img]

Anybody heard the Screaming Headless Torsos self titled debut? This was my first intro to Jojo's badness. He is just killin' it on that one. Man, his snare hits are so consistent, at times you would swear it was sampled. Pete is right, he is one of the best cats around these days.

Yeah the 'Torso's cd is killer stuff ! Also check out Fiucynsky/Medesky's -Lunar Crush cd featuring Jojo on three quarters of the album, he told me that they gave 'Gene Lake' credit on 3 tunes that he did, although you can recognize Jojo's playing on those cuts. The cd is absolute burning fusion !

Wow, if you guys haven't already seen this,( I'm sure you have), check out this clip. Some amazing 'virgil-like' tricks, but of course, all jo-jo's own sound.

First of all, that video is OLD. Like, at least a year or more. Don't know who told you it was "new".


Jo-Jo is INCREDIBLE. If you want to see one of the most impressive performances on a drum kit EVER, watch his '97 Modern Drummer Fest appearance... they have some clips from it on www.drummerworld.com i think. Just sick.


It's great that he is playing at the next one, where does that take place again? I went to the site but funny enough it dosen't mention the location.

P.S. The old Sonor ad with Jo-Jo levitating over his kit is hilarious! I'm jealous! [img]tongue.gif[/img]

One more thing... that debut SHT album is mind-blowing prog/funk/rock/pop/jazz whatever you want to call it.

Gene is a heavy player, but can not touch Jo-Jo, infact I stopped listening to SHT when he left cause it was just not the same at all. Listen to the live album without Mayer [img]frown.gif[/img]

It's such a shame, i have no idea what Jo Jo's profile is like over in the US, but over here you ask someone if they've heard of him and they'll say.... "Jo Jo Who?"

He's definately one of the most under-rated players for sure...
